Why an MBA in UK?

Attaining an MBA in UK is one of the world’s popular trends for MBA education. With the added advantage of it being more affordable than the US and preserving the world-class quality education, MBA in UK is desirable for many students around the world. Many UK universities offer European MBA degrees which are known for their one year duration (12-18 months duration) and cheaper costs. Surely this will pave a way for students in boosting their careers and in becoming future executives and entrepreneurs. The advantage of pursuing an MBA in the UK is that work experience and GMAT scores are not mandatory as admission criteria of institutes offering MBA. The unique cultural significance and way of life also provides another strong reason for students to choose to study in the UK.

About MBA in UK

There are many internationally recognized universities in the UK offering MBA programs for students. Depending upon the tuition fees, one has a wide variety of choices to suit according to one’s financial needs varying from around 6000 pounds to 22,000 pounds sterling per year. MBA degrees may be offered in durations of either one year or two years or both depending upon the universities hence offering flexibility in the choices for students. Institutes even recognize 3 year Bachelor degrees for acceptance into MBA programs and if entry requirements are not met, there are pre-MBA options available for students to pursue before entering MBA programs.
At least two years’ work experience is conventionally expected from students and a suitable GMAT score however these are not mandatory requirements and usually depend upon the university.

Admission eligibility

For students to be eligible for MBA programmes in the UK, they must satisfy the following criteria:
1) At least 2 years’ work experience (Not mandatory)
2) Bachelor’s degree (3 years and above) in any discipline or any equivalent degree
3) suitable GMAT score (not mandatory)
4) suitable IELTS (or TOEFL) test scores that indicate the proficiency of English language (mandatory)

Documents required

Important documents required for admission process in the UK are the following:
1) Online application duly filled with all important bio data
2)All past academic transcripts in a semester wise distribution of grades. If the grade cards are not in English, then a close translation of the same is to be attached along with the portfolio.
3) Work resume enlisting in proper detail on the past work experiences, posts held, respective durations and important projects completed.
4) GMAT score report (wherever applied)
5) IELTS score report (or TOEFL however IELTS is preferred)
6) Letters of recommendation (at least two)
7) MBA essays (application essays reflecting on your background, long term goals and  how the MBA degree will bring about an important impact in your life) – preferably three essays, depends on university specifications

Scholarships

Usually no scholarships or financial aid is available for students wishing to pursue MBA courses here. Some universities may waiver a part of the tuition fee on the grounds of excellent academic history or exceptional non-academic background.
However there are three scholarships that may deem itself useful for such students as well:
1) British Chevening Scholarships
2) Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)
3) Department for International Development (DFID) Shared Scholarship Scheme

Visa related information

Student VISA application to the UK may be sought by first filling up the IM2A forms available at any British embassy. Along with the IM2A forms, students seeking student VISA are required to submit the certificate of acceptance into a UK recognized university, evidence of financial stability to pay for the course, accommodation guarantee and other related documents.Students granted a student VISA in the UK are permitted to work up to 20 hours a week as a part-time job, and must leave the UK once the course is over.
